"This is what a Black girl does. Why? Because I'm a Black girl doing it." -MM

this is for you

You’re beautiful. I never told you that enough, so i’m telling you now and forever after that. Your hair, your skin, the things you were given at birth.

They’ll spend thousands just to have... without even trying you’re the example, the inspiration, the blueprint.

You have definitely grown up to be APRBLEM, keep it up.

Read your books, paint, draw, be creative, continue everything you’re doing... these are the things that make you...you.

Black girls Love.

Black girls self-care.

Black girls take care.

Black girls are themselves.

Black girls love themselves.

Black girls are the scope. They are the blueprint for so many, but are rarely recognized as such.

Nobody loves a black girl when she becomes a woman, or so it seems.

Say Hello to Me

Who would have thought ? I find myself reminiscing about the journey that has led us to this moment. Oh, how far we have come! I write to you from a place of love, with the knowledge that you may not fully grasp the significance of these words yet, but trust that one day, you will.

First and foremost, let me tell you that you are deserving of all the love and happiness in the world. You may often doubt your worth and question your abilities, but please know that you are capable of greatness. Embrace your uniqueness and don't be afraid to stand out, for it is your quirks that make you truly extraordinary.

Life will throw challenges your way, family school friendships even love, there will be moments when you feel overwhelmed and defeated. In those dark times, remember to be gentle  and kind with yourself. You are not expected to have all the answers, and it's okay to seek help and guidance from others. You are never alone, and asking for support is a sign of strength, not weakness.

You won’t even imagine what we accomplished so far, being a black girl from Harlem yeah we made it far. Things we once knew nothing about we are apart of...the sky is never the limit.

Love, whew it can be tough but it is a beautiful and complex journey. It's essential to be patient and not rush into it, for true love will find its way to you when the time is right. In the meantime, focus on cultivating self-love and nurturing your passions. Embrace the friendships that come your way, for they will be a source of joy and support throughout your life.

As you grow older, don't lose sight of the magic in the world. Stay curious, explore new avenues, and continue to learn and grow. Embrace change with an open heart, for it is through change that you will evolve into the person you are meant to be.

Above all, cherish the moments of happiness, no matter how small they may seem. Life is a series of ups and downs, and holding on to the moments of joy will carry you through the tough times.

My dear younger self, as I conclude this letter, I want you to know that you are loved, cherished, and valued. Be kind to yourself and others, and remember that your journey is filled with boundless possibilities. I am proud of who you will become, for I know that you will conquer your dreams and make a positive impact on the world.

With all my love and admiration, Your Older Self
